Trips to the vet (emergency option):
In case of emergencies, we will always endeavour to take your cat to their registered veterinary practice. If it is not possible to arrange an emergency appointment with your cat’s usual practice, we will take them to the closest emergency service. Trips to the vet are priced at £25 per hour and include travel to and from the practice.

Type of Client Data held

The type of Personal Data held by Cat’s Whiskers for clients consists of:
Contact details (Name, Email address, Phone number, Address); Access information e.g. security/alarm codes; Information required for the care of your cats e.g. food, litter, medication, vet contact details

Why is the Client Data held?

Cat’s Whiskers only holds clients’ personal data, as above, for contractual purposes to allow Cat’s Whiskers to supply the services booked by their clients.

Who has access to the Data held?

Dottie McDonald (as the owner of Cat’s Whiskers) is the Data Controller and has overall control of all data provided by the client and handled by Cat’s Whiskers.  In addition to the Data Controller, the Office Manager and sitters have access to necessary client data in order to run their aspect of the Cat’s Whiskers business.

How Data is handled by Cat’s Whiskers?

Information provided by clients in person or by email/telephone to the office is used to create a Client File which is stored in a cloud-based software.  The details collected are as outlined above.

Email addresses are used solely for service-based communications which may include (but are not limited to) reminders, booking cut-off dates, price increases and essential information about Cat’s Whiskers which relate to the contractual arrangement in place. 

Where clients have consented and chosen to follow us on social media platforms, a photo of the cat is taken during the visit and shared accordingly.

How data is secured

Client Files are stored in cloud-based software which is password protected. The Owner, Office Manager and sitters have access to this information via Mac/PC and mobile phones which are also password protected.

Third Parties

Prior to Cat’s Whiskers providing any of its clients’ personal data to a third party, Cat’s Whiskers confirms that it has undertaken necessary steps to ensure that the third party is GDPR compliant.

How long is the data held?

Client Files are accessible by the Owner, Office Manager and sitters if they have made a booking in the previous 2 years. For any client who has not booked within this timeframe, their details will be archived for up to 6 years in a password protected cloud-based environment.

Data Access Request

Clients of Cat’s Whiskers can ask to see what data is held about them.  They can also ask that their data be removed and/or changes made.  Cat’s Whiskers confirms that they will respond to any Data Access Request within the required timeframe.

Analytics

We use analytics to track how visitors use this website and so improve their experience; all user data here is anonymous.
